Giclée Print

A Giclée is a recognised and collectable category of fine art.

"Giclée" (zhee-clay) is a French term roughly meaning "spray" which describes the digital printing process. No fine art ink printmaking method has ever caused so much excitement as the Giclée. Colours in a Giclée print are so vibrant and true that it is often mistaken for the original artwork.

The Da Vinci Archival Art Paper

The Da Vinci Fine Art range of paper is premium coated, archival, water colour, inkjet paper that has been co-developed by Chaudigital (Coshs'' technical print support). These papers exhibit some of the smoothest surfaces of any art inkjet paper on the market today. Our Prints will not fade or age, they are guaranteed to have a colour life for 75 yrs.

Handling of your Giclée Print

To protect your investment, the following suggestions should be followed to increase the life of your Giclée print. They are only suggestions and it is still your choice of how and where you hang your pieces of artwork. We recommend that you treat your Giclée print the same as any original watercolour. One of the most important things after having the artwork properly framed, is where you decide to hang it. Avoid hanging any piece of art where it will be exposed to direct sunlight. The primary cause of image fading on most Giclée materials is "visible light". All two dimensional art should be framed and displayed under glass to protect the image surface from the environment. When cleaning the glass, do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass. The cleaner could inadvertently run under the edge of the frame, contaminating the mounting material or art. We recommend that prints are not hung in areas where there is high heat or high humidity. These guidelines will hopefully help extend the life of your Limited Edition Print.
